1770s robe à la polonaise

I just finished this polonaise and I’m so happy with it! I have to do one small alteration to improve the fit of the “bodice” but otherwise it’s done.
Edit: The photos are taken in my bedroom.
It’s based on a late 1770s polonaise pattern in The Cut of Women’s Clothes: 1600-1930 by Norah Waugh (diagram XXI), and I based the colours and trim mainly on this polonaise from ca 1775-80. As you can see this has lace as well and I might add that to mine in the future.
While working on my dress I realised it perfectly matches the exterior of my favourite 18th century building, Kina slott. I’ll have to go there to take some photos one day. The wig doesn’t exactly match my own hair colour but I hope I can hide that with more powder.
The back. Hopefully it won’t be this baggy at the sides when I’ve improved the fit. (The weird white thing showing in the neck is a camisole I wore under my stays since I’m altering my chemise and couldn’t wear it for the photos.)

What a beautiful creation! This would look beautiful in our Grand Salon too, at Chateau de La Barre, just the colours and period! Well done!

That is so stunning (and so are you) .
It’s a wonderful thing to see an 18th century style dress made so well and actually look like the real thing instead of a halloween costume. <3

What an absolutely beautiful dress! I love your room too - I’d love to have my house like that but my children would destroy it in seconds, alas.

So gorgeous, Johanna! Seriously, this new Polonaise of your’s is beyond dreamy! I love the colors especially… I’m curious; do you have any suggestions for a great pattern? (Perhaps in the easy to inter-mediate sewer’s range?) I have one already by Simplicity that I was planning to use, but if you have any that you could recommend; that would be awesome! :)

Thank you very much! Personally I only use patterns based on actual 18th century garments, and so far I’ve only used patterns from “The Cut of Women’s Clothes” by Norah Waugh. I really don’t know anything about sewing from patterns though and just make things up as I go, often altering stuff to fit me better, so I’m probably not the best person to ask about patterns :)
