I am looking for primary documentation/quotes regarding homemade clothing in colonial America in the 18th century. It is contested that there was no homemade clothing! That all clothing, except small clothes, shirts, aprons etc, were made by a tailor or proffessional seamstress. Would be gratefull if you should happen on something to drop me a line.
Regards, Keith.

I don’t know about America, but I’ve read the same thing about Sweden. Pretty much only underwear and such was homemade, even in poorer households, at least according to this book: http://18thcenturyblog.com/2009/03/kvinnligt-mode…
