Self portrait.

Pehr Hilleström was a Swedish 18th century painter who often painted everyday scenes with great attention to detail.

The game, 1779. This is a scene from the court of Gustav III and I think all of the people depicted are wearing versions of “svenska dräkten”, the Swedish national suit introduced by Gustav III.

My favorite! But not getting the credit he deserves, methinks. He’s not well represented in printed media either; the only work completely devoted to Hilleström was published in 1928 (Gerda Cederblom; Hilleström som kulturskildrare. Well worth your bucks if you can’t find it in your public library).

Thanks for the feature!

Åh, vilka detaljer på just kläderna!
Sånt är alltid roligt när man försöker göra egna någorlunda tidsenliga kläder! ;D

Tack för tipset!

Det är det jag gillar mest med hans bilder! :)
