I found this through a livejournal entry by Lisette la cousette. It’s a huge database of scanned fashion prints of which many are 18th century, and it’s absolutely fantastic! Click the picture to go to the livejournal entry where you follow the instructions to see the prints.

How did you manage to capture the image?
It horribly enerving to try and look at those prints, the browser keeps shutting down and you can’t capture them, or can you? This is so frustrating!

You have a really nice blogg by the way! Thanks

My boyfriend who is very good at computer stuff helped me access the high resolution images so I could save them. I don’t know how to do it myself though and he’s out of the country right now. The browser shutting down seems strange though, to me the images were just divided into small pieces so you couldn’t save them. You could always take a screen capture of the picture you want zoomed out if you don’t need it in high resolution.

Thank you!

Hi Joanna.
I have been a member of miss vintage for a while but I just discovered your art, not to mention this blog. The print data base you mention I’ve known for sometime but I can’t save the pics either. If you ask your friend please share the information.
Anyway, the 18th century is also my secret passion, has been forever. I saw you made your own costume. Question: did you buy a pattern/corset etc? Or did you draft it yourself?
By the way, I love your art! Your panda image is now my desktop background, pandas being my personal favourite animals :).

Thank you! I’m so glad you like my art and the blog :D I didn’t make my own 18thcentury corset, I had it made for me, but I made the rest of the costume, or costumes rather, by hand without a pattern. I just studied a bunch of photos of real 18th century polonaises and tried to make mine as similar as I could.
