The lady in the centre of this picture wears a calash. It is an early depiction. A calash was a piece of headgear used to protect the wearer’s head dress while outdoors. I would love to know the original source of this image.

I believe this picture is a later engraving, perhaps from the 19th or 20th century, copying several fashion plates from different parts of the 18th century.
I have plenty of pictures of calaches. If you are interested I could send them to you.
