En bädd av dun by Christopher O’Regan
This is a book about life at the court of Gustav III of Sweden, and also quite a bit about Gustav himself. I thought it was great. Fun to read and lots of interesting facts and stories. It is illustrated with paintings and drawings from the period, and also a few photographs of people dressed like 18th century people and of existing costumes and items from the 18th century. This book exists only in Swedish as far as I know.

I must recommend you one of the most gorgeous books i’ve ever seen.
“La France au temps des libertins” by Jacqueline Queneau and Jean-Yves Patte, Éditions Duchêne 2001. It’s a beautiful work of art filled with gorgeous photographs by Alexandre Bailhache and mise en scènes by Caroline Lebeau (Lebeau also worked with the film “Vatel” from 2000, starring Gérard Depardieu and Uma Thurman) The book is bursting with beautiful interiors with boudoirs, salons and beautifully dressed tables, lush gardens and numerous paintings, some by the swedish Niclas Lafrensen/Lavreince. It is of course in french but a must have for 18th century-ians. Hedengrens ordered it for me and i had to pay 600, but it was so worth it! Enjoy.

Thank you very much for the tip! I hope I’ll get to buy it some day.
